Hayward Lake, Mission, BC

Hayward lake is a nice place that people like to go to for going canoeing or boating in the summer. They also have two hiking trials, the reservoir trail and the railway trail. This place is maintained by BC hydro and you can even take a tour of the dam. The trail we took was the railway trail, it wasn't difficult, there were a couple of spots where you have to go up and down some steep hills. The start of the railway trial is very flat and is a road (go through a yellow gate) but, eventually you will have more scenery and enter the forest.

Address to main parking lot: 31338 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Mission, BC V4S 1C4

Map in the parking lot. The trail we took was the railway one, it is 17km and only took us 3h. Due to dam construction, you can't do both trails in a continuous loop.

Start of the trail! First you see the beach from the parking lot where a lot of people during the long weekend were hanging out and some even swimming.

Old railways.

We kept walking towards the right at the end of the trail (you see many signs that tell you the trail is closed and a closed gate but, there is another section that goes uphill on the right side). We reached a big open area and got to see this view. The water is such a gorgeous blue. If you continue, you reach another parking lot and a road.
